Who are we?

Fichtner is global engineering consultancy established in 1922 with over 2000 employees over 170 countries. Within the UK and Ireland our engineers and consultants are involved in some of the most innovative energy projects across the UK providing design, intellectual, and engineering services to developers, investors, owners, and operators. Projects in development, construction, or operation in the UK and Ireland, include more than:

  • 60 major thermal power plants, across the waste, biomass, and conventional power sectors
  • 10 GWh of battery storage
  • 5 GW of solar
  • 7 GW of on-shore and off-shore wind
  • 5 GWh of pumped storage hydro projects
  • 20 carbon capture projects, aiming to capture and permanently sequestrate more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 per annum

We have over 175 employees that we are proud to have represent us, operating from our offices in Manchester, Belfast, Dublin, and Glasgow and from sites spread across the UK and Ireland. We are now looking to further extend our team by recruiting a civil/structural engineer to be based from our central Belfast office.

What we are looking for:

  • A good degree in either Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Have achieved, or be actively working towards, Engineers Ireland professional chartered membership
  • Recent technical experience gained with heavy civils projects
  • Experience of conducting quality inspections of materials and methods such as pre-formed and cast concrete structures and steelwork
  • A good understanding of foundation piling, environmental issues, building codes and geotechnical studies
  • The ability to produce and explain high quality technical reports and feasibility studies for clients
  • Comfortable in interpreting engineering drawings, design specifications and functional descriptions
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations and risk assessments, able to identify quality issues and design risks
  • Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team; and
  • A full driving licence and vehicle for travel to sites/meetings
